Yes ma’am (or sir)? Food most definitely affects skin! But in what ways?
While some foods are amazing for skin others could lead to breakouts…I’m going talk about 5 beneficial foods for skin in this post and I’ll do the least beneficial ones separate.
- Avocado Oil
- Olive Oil
Avocados have both monounsaturated & polyunsaturated fats (the good stuff)! 75% of the fat in avocados is unsaturated meaning your body loves it! They’re high in vitamin E, antioxidants, and polyphenols! Good fats are important for nourishing cells and antioxidants help fight oxidative damage that can affect aging!
- Chia Seeds
- Flax Seeds
Omega 3 fatty acids are great anti-inflammatories which is necessary for healthy skin! It’s also great for helping skin with UV protection.
Nuts & Seeds
Walnuts, chia seeds and flax seeds also have Omega 3’s along with other benefits. Proteins, minerals and vitamins are all incorporated in this food group which it so great for skin! Almonds have selenium, manganese and Vitamin E which helps with sun protection.
Berries are great anti-oxidants! The colors of the berries actually help fight free radicals and help with the aging process!
Vitamin A & C Rich
- Sweet Potatoes
- Dark Greens
Vitamin A and vitamin C are both important factors for healthy skin! Vitamin A is great for wrinkle protection, UV protection, and helps the skin to heal.
Vitamin C is soooo important because it affects collagen production. Collagen turnover is vital for young looking skin!
These are just some basic guidelines!
I wanted to give you a decent amount of different foods that could benefit your skin. It’s hard staying in one tiny box and there are most definitely other great foods out there for the skin. These are just some basic guidelines. And I have to mention WATER! Some of y’all say you’re allergic because you don’t really like it, but it is so necessary for happy skin! So drink that water, eat fruits, veggies, and come see me!
